My main smartphone is "Galaxy Z Flip3 5G SC-54B"
Do you apply the smartphone terminal software update immediately after the release? I try to apply as soon as possible. [Photo] Almost paperweight SC-54B On November 30th, there was a software update for my "Galaxy Z Flip3 5G SC-54B". The purpose is to improve the problem that the camera image cannot be checked when the terminal is closed, and to update the security patch. "Of course, I immediately started working on the update... but trouble arose." As a memorandum, I would like to keep the record.
You can't update via mobile communication...?
Samsung Electronics smartphones, including the SC-54B, use a system prepared by the company to update the software. Therefore, the “atmosphere” of the update is different from that of Android smartphones made by other companies released by DoCoMo. In addition to updating the terminal itself, it is also possible to update it by connecting it to a Windows PC or Mac installed with an application called "Samsung Smart Switch". According to the explanation on NTT Docomo's website, this software update is also possible via mobile communication. Perhaps because it uses the manufacturer's own system, unlike Android smartphones made by other companies, the packet (data) communication required to download update data is charged. I have a "5G Gigaho Premier" contract, so I don't have to worry about data communication charges. "Anyway, I want to update as soon as possible!" I tried to download the update data by operating the SC-54B. However, I can't download with a message saying "You can't download unless you connect to Wi-Fi (wireless LAN)." It turned out to be different than what was described on the website.
I tried updating by connecting to a tethered PC...
I was out at the time. There are no public Wi-Fi spots nearby. "That's when I suddenly come up with an idea." I wondered if I should update using a Windows PC connected to the Internet with Wi-Fi tethering. Fortunately, I already have Smart Switch installed on my Windows PC. I decided to give it a try. Connect the Windows PC and SC-54B, launch the Smart Switch app, and perform the software update. It seemed to be going well at first. Initially……. However, when I entered the terminal software rewriting process, there was no progress even after 30 minutes or more... According to the information on Docomo's website, it takes about 45 minutes to update via a PC, so according to calculations, it should be about two-thirds (66%). "After that, I waited another 30 minutes, but the rewriting still didn't finish." Then, for some reason, the connection between the PC and the SC-54B was cut off... When I looked at the terminal, thinking, "Oh no, this is a write failure on the terminal side...", this is what was displayed. An error has occurred while updating the device software. Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC software.(Japanese) An error has occurred while updating the terminal software. Use the emergency recovery feature on the PC version of Smart Switch. As a result, the SC-54B has effectively become a "paperweight". "On the day of the event, there was a plan to visit and interview after this." However, I left my wallet at home only on a day like this... If you can't use the SC-54B's "Osaifu-Keitai" function, you won't be able to move, and you'll be stuck. Fortunately, I was able to use the Osaifu-Keitai function even in this state, and I was able to manage my visit schedule. Fortune in misfortune.
