National Institute of Industrial Technology [Kazuhiko Ishimura] (hereinafter referred to as "Series Series") Active fault / volcanic research division [Research Division Junichi Ito] Earthquake Disaster Prediction Research Group Researcher and Kyushu University [President IshibashiTatsuro] Professor Ken Tatsuji, the Faculty of Engineering, and Assistant Professor Tatsuki Ikeda, clarified the decline in social activities due to the expansion of the new colonovirus infection from the earthquake gauge data installed in the Tokyo metropolitan area.
Various vibrations are also recorded in the seismometer besides seismic motion. This study revealed that the vibration caused by human activities decreased due to the corona.During the first emergency declaration, the strength of artificial vibration has been reduced the most.Later, the vibration on Sundays was slower than on weekdays. This is probably due to the resumption of economic activity, and many people continued to refrain from leisure activities at their own discretion. The shrinking economy and leisure activity due to the expansion of the new colon virus infection has been visualized from the earthquake gauge data. This indicates that seismometer data can be applied to monitoring human activities.
The results of this research will be published on November 5, 2021 (UK time) in the British open access electronic academic magazine "Scientific Reports".
