On November 20, last year, at "THE LOUNGE TOKYO" in Roppongi, Tokyo, a special model "Urakan STO (Super Trofeo Omologata)" of the Lamborghini V10 engine-equipped model "Urakan" was unveiled for the first time. Some of you may remember that introductory article, which is also covered in @DIME.
This "Urakan STO" won the "Urakan Super Trofeo EVO", which competes for Lamborghini's worldwide one-make race series, and the Daytona 24-hour race for the third consecutive time, and won the Sebring 12-hour race twice. Developed by utilizing the race technology obtained from "Urakan GT3 EVO".
In other words, the "Urakan STO" will be a so-called racing machine that can run on public roads, with the technology and experience cultivated on the circuit fully poured into it.
It's been about a year since then! I had a valuable opportunity to test drive the "Urakan STO", a racing machine that can run on public roads, on this course of the Fuji Speedway, which is an international racing course.
So, continuing from the last time, I would like to report on the racing machine's first time including the terrible running of the "Urakan STO".
Special bronze color 5.2 liter naturally aspirated V10 engine
By the way, on the main course pit of Fuji Speedway, there are 6 "Urakan STO" waiting for the time of the sortie. The 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine mounted on the rear mid produces a maximum output of 640PS / 8000rpm and a maximum torque of 565Nm / 6500rpm. Since the dry weight is 1339kg, the power-to-weight ratio boasts a power-to-weight ratio of 2.09kg / PS.
By the way, the engine painted in bronze color is a proof of a special model in Lamborghini.

Adrenaline explosion on the circuit
It's finally time to sortie with an unknown fighter. The test drive is a method of running 4 laps x 2 times with two "Urakan STO" following the leading car, and finally "1on1" with one following the leading car "Urakan STO" for a total of 3 times. It will be a session.
Wearing a face mask and helmet and putting yourself in a low and tight cockpit sports seat will make you feel more nervous.
Moreover, the "Urakan STO" assigned to the author is the same as the light blue colored car that was unveiled in Tokyo about a year ago, so the tension goes up. However, since this car has a right-hand drive, it is clear that it is a different individual.
Then, in the first session, in order to get used to the car and the course, the driving mode was to select "STO" for normal driving and enter the course. Then, the car body felt lighter than I had imagined, and I showed a surprisingly light body. Therefore, even in the corners, it is easy to follow the line aimed at by the leading car. Of course, there are also benefits from the RWS (Rear Wheel Steering) system.
In addition, on the 2nd and 3rd laps when the tires are warm, you can experience the tremendous sense of stability that seems to stick to the road surface along with the effect of downforce, which also leads to a sense of security. So, when I stepped on the accelerator to the floor on the home straight and tried to accelerate fully, it marked 268km / h.
Even so, this "Urakan STO" is very easy to handle and ride, even though it has the characteristics of a racing machine. Perhaps even those who have just obtained a driver's license will be able to drive normally. However, the rear-view mirror is almost invisible, so I'm afraid to back it up ...
Also, I was surprised that the suspension was supple despite wearing 20-inch thick tires. It's strange to compare a little, but the car with the letters "STi" instead of "STO" that I used to ride was a harder impression (because I was playing with it a little).
In the second session, I chose "Trofeo" for driving mode on the circuit with the intention of attacking a little. Then, the engine starts to rise sharply, and the meter instantly goes to the rev limit, so the paddle on the right side behind the steering makes the shift up busy.
In addition, the handling and the information transmitted from the buttocks seem to have been sharpened further, and the drive system overlaps with the feeling that the car bends around me because of MR, and the cornering feels very comfortable.
To tell the truth, I felt so good that I was about to rush into the corner at overspeed and go off course, but it is the only secret that I was saved by the ESC (side slip prevention device).
And for the second fastest challenge, I tried to take a margin with the car in front of the final corner, but the limit was 278km / h. In the first place, keeping a distance from the car in front is wrong because you can't use slipstream, but especially in this case, it's scary and you can't do that.
Of course, in terms of the performance of the car, it is very rigid and stable with downforce, and the tires and CCM-R brakes are also extremely reliable, but the price is 41.25 million yen anyway. High price. Not only myself, but if I rush into the car in front of me, the total amount will exceed 80 million yen.
This time, former F1 driver Aguri Suzuki and professional racing driver were also participating, but I will add that I was able to achieve over 300km / h using slipstream.

However, even now, the naturally aspirated V10 sound that plays a sensual tone is still in my ears, and my body remembers the fierce G and the feeling of cornering when I stepped on the accelerator, and I was excited just to remember it. come.
